Codependency Around Money

So I woke up this morning and I rolled over in my bed intensely rested and feeling all yummy and warm underneath my covers and I saw my Bible…

I’ve been reading my Bible alot lately…

I read my Bible more so for feedback on what I need healing from in religion but, also I think of the Bible as one of the coolest spiritual texts…actually the coolest.

And I was traumatized like a mother fucker by the church. ( More on that later…)

Anyways, so I asked God to speak to me…

And I opened up the Bible and I came to the chapter of Ruth…

Actually I opened up the Bible and the first thing I see is the word, “RUTH”

And well, the story of Ruth is that she is poor and she needs a man to help her be able to take care of herself and Boaz comes in and saves the day and they get married…and he basically covers her ass because she’s not supposed to be around anyways…

And it made me think a bit about codependency interesting enough…

Because Ruth needed Boaz to get her out of poverty…

It’s a sweet story and a beautiful story

However…someone who is a Bible person

Could look at that book in the bible and think to themselves

“Well actually I am poor and I need to go find a man in order to be able to be successful…”

Which is the perfect form of codependency…

And the perfect form to be somewhat gaslighted by religion and a spiritual text.

Did God mean for it to be like that…Eh.  I don’t think so…

Did the people who wrote the book of Ruth mean to do that…

Eh, possibly, not sure.

Is it one of those books that can help people believe that divine relationships can change your life and help you…

YES!

And does that mean that when God wants to change your life, he brings a person into your life…

YES!

Just be aware that you don’t have to cling onto the belief that you need a man to change you or that you can’t change on your own.

I think we have mentors as guidance…

And I think it’s important to realize that you don’t NEED anyone

I think it’s also important to note that there are a lot of lessons around this story…

Because I could take that story and run with the whole, “Oh the bible is a load of bullshit and creates a need for us to be dependent on others which is codependency which is totally toxic and…”

Blah blah blah…

And then there’s also the aspect of the book that explains how fairy tale romances can happen and that we as women deserve to be romanced and taken care of in our deepest despair.  And that there are magical people in our lives that can come in and literally change our lives in the deepest ways we never dared to imagine…

Ruth was an incredibly humble and kind and loving woman…and she was deeply humble to the point of deep unworthiness…or that is what one could interpret…

Or one could interpret that she was humble before herself and her family and she therefore was gifted with a man who took really good care of her and they fell in love and they lived happily ever after…

It may not have been that she was in codependency HOWEVER…that is how someone could interpret it IF THEY GREW UP IN A CODEPENDENT environment and therefore went into thinking they needed someone else to help them and in essence they couldn’t do it themselves…

Similar to having mentors…

We can think we need mentors in order to be successful and it can turn into a codependent relationship…and so we need to jump ship and get out of it…

And this can be both from the mentor and from the client or vice versa…

OR…

It could be one of them that has come from a codependent environment and gets scared that this is what is going on BECAUSE they are getting the help that they actually need and they aren’t used to being supported the way they need to be…

OR…

The mentor is so self aware that they know when they go into codepency that when it starts to creep up into their psyche that they are, they create a dynamic in their energy that the client has to feel led to leave the mentor…which isn’t cool either.

OR…

It could be that the mentor could be their Boaz in the form of guiding them, loving them, honoring them as the kind and loving soul they are…where they stand in the vibration of that client becoming the person they need to be…and therefore the client receives their place of prosperity that they need.

And the client needs to be taught that this dynamic, this relationship archetype, if used properly can catapult them to a level of prosperity that they never dared to dream of…

Because that’s the way Ruth was…

And the client and mentor can live happily ever after, whole complete and happily in their own lives.  (not married duh)

I think we sometimes can misinterpret shit especially from the Bible in multiple ways especially if we have been abused by the church, this happens everywhere…so we are need to guard our hearts and love ourselves enough to look at it from every angle.

I would pray for mentors that you feel connected to, and I would pray that you form the healthiest dynamics with your mentors.  And before you start to think a coach/mentor is toxic or wrong for you…check yourself in multiple ways.

And talk to the mentor before you do so.

This is not something to enter into lightly…

Because when God wants to change your life…he brings a person into your life.

Remember that.

Be a finder.   Not a seeker.

Be the finder that FINDS the perfect mentor (the perfect Boaz) for you.
